With all you read about the July real estate market, I was surprised to read through the MRIS data for the two McLean, Virginia zip codes, 22101 and 22102. The sales numbers remain down although prices have dropped and mortgage rates were close to 5% on 30-year loans. The strength of the McLean home market is its strategic location keeping this Continue Reading

Figuring out the Vienna Home Market… July 2009
You may be bombarded with July's real estate sales data but I want to keep it simple, and the Vienna home market in the 22182 zip code appears to have picked up pace in July over 2008's numbers. If you are a seller with a home priced over $800,000 then you are still searching for a needle in a haystack. I just looked over real estate resale data Continue Reading
Back from the road… and lots of questions.
As I pulled into my driveway in Vienna, so ended a long trip through New England ranging from fun in Acadia National Park to the sunny shores of Narragansett, Rhode Island. Being a real estate agent can spark a conversation almost anywhere, and I wound up answering questions from friends who are considering buying a property in Colorado. The Continue Reading
A summer vacation… and blood donation!
The dog-days of summer have arrived and I am getting things packed up for a trip to Maine and Rhode Island. Yes, mini-van life has returned and I am going to resemble many 40-something Dad’s behind the wheel pretending we are still pretty cool (think Clark Griswold). Thank goodness the kids have outgrown The Wiggles! On a serious note, I stopped Continue Reading
3rd Street in Herndon, Virginia – bought!
This 4 bedroom, two car colonial wasn't your typical short sale in Herndon, Virginia... it was much better! Lots of space, finished lower level, big bedroom sizes. But it took a lot of work, time, patience, and a couple off-hand prayers. Took about 2 months (fast) but almost 30 days without any response to the offer! Bought in 2009. My Continue Reading
Installing a real estate “for-sale” sign in Virginia?
Better call Miss Utility first! Yes, that familiar RE/MAX Presidential sign in your front yard is going to require a bit more effort (and spray paint) to install. The Virginia State Corporation Commission (SCC) is turning up the heat on enforcement of the Virginia Underground Utility Damage Prevention Act which was enacted thirty years ago, and Continue Reading
Digital signatures = Better Service for my clients
The age of the digital signature has arrived… for my real estate clients. My motivation to add this technology came when a client faxed back a counter-offer to my office in June and it was unreadable. People just aren’t faxing as much, and when they find a fax machine it is probably more than five years old, and as you know, real estate Continue Reading
A big change for MetroWest… fewer homes.
UPDATE 9/2011: Pulte Homes has finally set up their sales office for MetroWest off of Lee Highway (Route 29) where they are building front load and rear load garage townhomes starting in the low $525,000 range. Many are already sold as of today (9/26). This is an excellent walk-to-Vienna-Metro location! Original Post: That means taking down Continue Reading
