Since I moved to the Washington, DC area from Boston and literally knew nothing about the area (okay, I knew it was the capital of the U.S.) , I can understand why my relocating clients can slip into overwhelm mode as we look for the perfect home. New highways, places to get groceries… or the usual routine of just living here.
Actually, the entire area is a very exciting place to live with more things to do everyday of the year so it will be almost impossible to get stuck in a boring routine. There is history and there is history in the making.
Here are a few things to do and places to see:
- Wolftrap National Park for the Performing Arts
- Mount Vernon
- Great Falls National Park and The C & O Canal
- Tysons Corner
- Reston Town Center
- Old Town Alexandria
- Clifton
- Udvar Hazy National Air and Space Museum
- Gravelly Point Park
- Nationals Baseball

Take a little time and look through the blog posts that I have written over the years about interesting things that I have done or seen. Yes, real estate is what I do for work, but I live here too and there are plenty of things I get to do that are fun to write about, like when NASA flew the space shuttle into Dulles Airport.
There are also plenty of great restaurants in Northern Virginia, markets or bakeries for any taste, and a bike trail that runs for more than 40 miles.
Share a comment here that someone relocating will feel is a cool insider tip, thanks!
