Vienna Elementary Boundary Adjustment

February 19, 2016 By Doug Francis

Vienna Elementary Boundary Change 2016 map

These 26 students will be assigned to Madison HS, Thoreau MS, Vienna Elementary School

One element of a proper Realtor “listing sheet” is including the school pyramid since most families, in Vienna VA, want to know where their kids will be going to school.

Although the FCPS assigned schools almost always automatically populate the data fields, I personally still head over to the Fairfax County Public Schools Boundary Locator to double check before adding a school’s name.

It’s simple, and all you need is an address. Try the Boundary Locator now.

But every once in a while I still find the critical school data fields are blank. This problem can complicate saved searches for home buyers because the perfect home simply won’t show up as I wrote about a few years ago.

The boundary change in Vienna starts Fall 2016

Recently I learned that there will be a boundary change in Vienna that will impact some students who have attended Freedom Hill Elementary. See the map above.

From a geographic (specifically driving) point of view, this makes sense for the students impacted. All schools are within a reasonable distance of the impacted neighborhood.

Here are the school adjustments:

Marshall High → Madison High

Kilmer Middle → Thoreau Middle

Freedom Hill Elementary → Vienna Elementary

Boundary changes do not happen often in Fairfax County although it is important for consumers (home buyers) to research this information before buying a home. Changes typically happen due to increased enrollment and provide better student teacher ratios which has been a priority in Fairfax County.

Public meetings and meeting minutes specific to boundary line changes are posted online at FCPS web site.

If you are unable to find information online, I recommend contacting the school and request to talk with the Assistant Principal who has probably attended all community outreach meetings.
