As you sit on the couch watching Modern Family with your iPad in your lap, you Google “McLean Va Homes for Sale” so you can see what $1,000,000 will buy these days.
The results show both paid and organic results and you will click on one. Whichever… they all sort of show the same homes.
That’s right, they do show all of the same homes for sale but after looking at two or three now they want you to register. Register for the same info that you can see on Zillow or Trulia anonymously… what’s the deal?
About a decade ago there was a top level decision made by Realtors to allow websites to get a direct feed of listing details which were once disseminated only in the private MLS network. Now, for a fee, anyone with proper credentials can publish listing for every Realtor on a web site using licensed IDX.
Essentially, the goal is to capture leads (yes, you) so you can be targeted with real estate ads and emails from one top agent. Drip, drip, drip… she’ll capture you!
A Smarter Real Estate Strategy
What I decided to do on this site was share more in-depth knowledge and local insight into a community. But, I also know that having listings is helpful and you can find them in this site too. (they just aren’t the only thing, get it?)
I bet you are probably going to Google to get better insight or understanding into the real estate market right now. And probably pleased to discover an authoritative agent who isn’t just another slick sales guy. (If you want a slick sales guy then contact…)
I love it when I mention to a client a critical fact that she couldn’t have known about Vienna without living here, and then hear back “that’s exactly the type of information I’m looking for!”
So, go to Google and type in “McLean Home Search” or “Vienna Real Estate for Sale” and look through those home search sites.
When you are ready, you will probably see me in those Google search results too and then we can put together a smart strategy for actually buying one of those homes.
You might just want to bookmark, favorite or star this page right now. Cheers!
