Living Here in Northern Virginia

Since I moved to the Washington, DC area from Boston and literally knew nothing about the area (okay, I knew it was the capital of the U.S.) , I can understand why my relocating clients can slip into overwhelm mode as we look for the perfect home. New highways, places to get groceries... or the usual routine of just living here. Actually, the Continue Reading

Vienna custom home basement Doug Francis

While having lunch at Panera last week, I spotted a local home builder who I first met at my daughter's pre-school years ago and called him over to chat. After a brief introduction to the crew at my table, he launched into the number of builders who are now aggressively working the Vienna Virginia real estate market. His count was at twelve Continue Reading

Social Media Globe iStockPhoto

It is always interesting to read back through the old blog stats... okay, it is a little geeky. Like you, I have read through many blogs about home buying and selling from real estate agents all over the country. Some I like, but most others need some style help. When I started this blog, I really wanted to put my experiences down because they Continue Reading

Things You Should Know Before Moving to Northern Virginia

October 24, 2010 By Doug Francis

Potomac Street and Hog Alley Harpers Ferry West Virginia

Relocating here? Well, when I started Things You Should Know Before Moving to Northern Virginia (updated in 2019), I had to force myself to stop at fourteen "things". Over the years I have heard myself giving these tips over and over to clients who are relocating here, so, I thought that I should put down my observations for the world to Continue Reading

Perspective Impacts Local Real Estate

July 13, 2010 By Doug Francis

Beach in Lewes Delaware

I went out of town over July 4th to enjoy the beach in Lewes, Delaware with the family, and accidentally observed the local real estate market and the way agents work there. Having been an agent in Northern Virginia for 19 years and seen behind the advertising/image personas (the curtain) of many real estate agents, I thought about how easily home Continue Reading

Being able to guide my clients through many real estate sales, either moving out, moving in, or just across town, has been a rewarding experience that helps when discussing a plan with a future client.

Being able to help them focus and understand our proven sales plan always eases their anxiety of this looming personal task. And, putting it into bite-sized steps always helps them get where they really want to be.

My background… I’ve been an active licensed agent in Virginia for 25 years, work at TTR Sotheby’s International Realty in McLean, and sell homes in all price ranges. I donate to the town tree replacement fund, participate in a neighborhood citizens association, and try my best to stay in shape.

Questions? Email doug@dougfrancis.com or call me at (703) 304-6827 to discuss your plans. Cheers!
